Annamarie Tellez M.Ed

Director, Parent & Family Programs

Annamarie serves as the Director of Outreach and Events within the Division of Student Affairs, where she leads initiatives that strengthen connection, collaboration, and engagement across the division and the broader University community. Her work is centered on building strong cross-departmental partnerships, and creating opportunities for Student Affairs teams to work cohesively toward a shared commitment to student success. In addition, she leads Parent & Family Programs, fostering meaningful partnerships between the University and the families and supporters who play an important role in their students’ college journeys. Through these efforts, she works to create a more unified, connected, and student-centered Student Affairs experience for Wildcats and the communities that support them. Her commitment to both student and family engagement has led her to present at regional and national conferences focused on communication and programming in Higher Education.

As Tucson natives and proud University of Arizona alumni, Annamarie and her husband both began their academic journeys through the U of A New Start program. Their connection to the University has continued through their family, with two of their children currently enrolled as Wildcats and one having graduated from the University of Arizona. Annamarie holds a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Development and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

What do you love most about your work at U of A?
My favorite part of working on campus is the people! I get to work with some of my favorite colleagues, students, Advisory Board members, and every year I meet new families and students!

What is your favorite thing about Tucson?
Tucson has the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, there are days when I drive home to purple skies! This is tied with monsoon season, and how our city looks and smells after a great rain!

What is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the UA Mall, seeing the campus and community gather on the grassy areas to relax, celebrate, tailgate!

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family! We love to hang out in the backyard, cook yummy food and spend time together. I also enjoy gardening and reading a good book!

Share one piece of advice for current or prospective U of A students.
I always encourage students to get involved! Students need to feel like they belong, connection and involvement are key factors to retention. It may feel like you are starting all over again; making new friends, navigating a new space, but it is so important!
