Spring 2020 Student Healthcare Options Open Enrollment is Underway through January 29, 2020
While your student wraps up the fall semester and heads home for winter break, one topic to discuss and review is their health care coverage.
Campus Health Service, Your Home for Healthcare on Campus
The Campus Health Service (CHS) recognizes the importance of access to health care services and its role in supporting your student and their success. We wanted to take the time to review access to care at CHS.
- General Medicine
- Counseling and Psych Services
- Walk-In Clinic
- Women’s Health
- Pharmacy
- Lab and X-Ray Services
- Physical Therapy
- Immunizations/Travel Clinic
- Special Clinics Including: Sports Medicine, Orthopedics and Wart Care
- Nutrition Education & Counseling
- Health Promotion & Preventive Services
UArizona Students* who are registered for classes at the University of Arizona do not need health insurance in order to access health care at CHS. However, we strongly urge every student to maintain adequate health insurance to cover unexpected medical expenses.
Commercial Health Insurance Plans
CHS is a participating provider to most United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Health Net plans for Primary Care Services. To see if CHS is a participating provider under your plan, please contact your plan’s member services and provide them with our information: Tax ID 74-2652689. This is also a great opportunity to inquire about your plan’s coverage.
CampusCare is an option that covers most expenses after a designated office visit fee (unless specified under exclusions) for services provided exclusively at CHS. This option serves as an ideal bridge for students covered by any type of health plan, where one may have a high deductible, limited benefits or no coverage for charges incurred at CHS. Please note that CampusCare is not a health insurance policy.
Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) Student Health Insurance Plan
The University of Arizona offers a top-tiered Student Health Insurance Plan. Coverage extends nationwide and has an emergency benefit worldwide. All three State of Arizona university health centers serve as primary care providers and are available to UArizona students.
UArizona Myth Debunked
Myth: “The Student Health Insurance is automatically applied and bundled with tuition each semester unless students “opt-out” from the health insurance.”
- Domestic students have the option (not required) to enroll for the Arizona Board of Regents’ (ABOR) Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Students wishing to order coverage must take action to sign-up for coverage.
- Those who enroll in ABOR-SHIP: premium is a separate charge from tuition, as viewed in the student’s Bursar account.
- *The University of Arizona requires all international students on non-immigrant visas (degree and non-degree seeking, resident or non-resident tuition) showing at least one registration unit, to carry the Student Health Insurance Plan unless one qualifies for an exemption.

We wish you a wonderful winter break!
