KEY DATES FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Friday, March 20: Students must login to My UAHome to indicate if they are moving out or not.

Friday, April 17: Students who have chosen to move-out, must do so. Students must have selected their housing rent credit option.

Friday, May 15: Students still living in their dorm must move-out.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can my student remain in their dorm?

  • YES students are welcome to come back to the dorms, though we expect that the majority of students will check out given President’s directive and the migration of in-person classes to online classes.

Will their be a cost deduction for moving out?

  • We are prorating rent for students who move out and have developed two options, outlined below (Housing Rent Credit).  We estimate that there is about 20% of the academic year remaining.  We will issue half of that balance as a refund immediately OR apply the entire balance to a credit for next year.

What if I do not have suitable, alternate housing?

  • For students who do not have a suitable alternative living option, housing is still open and available. Dorms, food service, Campus Health, Student Rec Center, libraries and computer labs are open and will remain open to support you. If you are currently living on campus or will be moving back to campus this spring semester, you are not eligible for these credit options.

Can parents/families/friends move student's items out of the dorms?

Housing will now permit residents to designate another person to pack up and remove their belonging from their dorm room. This process is available starting Saturday, March 21 (Coronado) and Monday, March 23 (All Dorms), as follows:

  • Resident must send an email (from their CatNet email) to Housing, giving permission to allow someone else to pack up their room.
    • They must be specific as to whom their designee is, as Housing will ask for a photo ID before allowing anyone to enter the dorm.
    • The designee must have a copy of this email with them.
  • The designee must check in at the front desk between 10:00am-5:00pm to be escorted to the room.
  • The designee should have the dorm room key in order to gain access to the room, otherwise the dorm key must be returned by mail.
  • If the resident’s roommate(s) HAS NOT moved out yet, the roommate must also send Housing an email giving the designee permission to pack up the roommate’s items. Housing will not be responsible for any packed items that belong to a roommate.
    • The designee must have a copy of this email with them.
  • When the resident’s belongings have been completely removed, the person must return the room key (and mail key, if possible) to the front desk.

Additionally, the residents's designee (or their Community Director or Resident Assisant on their behalf) can email RES-DOT@distribution.arizona.edu and provide permission for the resident's designee to collect their mail or packages. The student will need to provide the full name of the individual collecting the packages and a general idea of what mail are packages are to be collected.

Items that are left behind or unclaimed by residents, will be bagged and labeled with dorm name, room # and date, and transported to designated Abandoned Property locations in each District. Abandoned Property items will be kept in the designated locations for 21 days, and properly disposed of/donated after 21 days. There will be a charge for abandoned property.

When can I move-out of the dorms?

Housing staff is unable to assist with packing, retrieve items from your room, or provide packing materials.

Will there be assistance during move-out?

  • Housing staff is unable to assist with packing, retrieve items from your room, or provide packing materials.

Is summer housing still available?

  • At this time housing for summer is still being offered. If any changes are made students who have already applied to summer housing will be notified.

Where can I find information about receiving housing?

  • If you were not a resident of on campus housing prior to spring break and are currently seeking housing, please reach out to Housing at housing@arizona.edu or 520-621-6501.

Housing Rent Credit

Published: 15/03/20

The following was shared with on-campus residents and their emergency contacts Sunday, March 15. Please refer to the University's main Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information page regularly for important campus information.

As previously shared, students will continue classes online but have been asked not to return to campus for classes for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester. Therefore, we have asked students not to return to live on campus if they have a suitable alternative living option

With these unique and unprecedented circumstances, Housing & Residential Life is offering a credit for spring 2020 semester housing to students who are moving out of the dorms now. We have developed two options:

Option A: A credit for the 2019-2020 academic year housing will be applied to your Bursar’s account in May.

After any outstanding balance on your student account has been settled, the Bursar’s office will either mail you a check or deposit the credit to your checking account if you have signed up for direct deposit. Please reference this chart for actual dollar amount.

OR

Option B: A larger credit will be applied to your academic year 2020-21 housing.

Your credit will be applied in August and posted to your Bursar’s account and can be used for your 2020-2021 academic year on-campus housing. If you haven’t already done so, please complete your 2020-2021 housing application. This credit can only be used for your 2020-2021 on-campus housing. Please reference this chart for actual dollar amount.

You must make your selection in your housing portal in My UAHome, starting Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, April 17. If by April 17 you have not selected an option, Option A will be selected for you. Once a selection has been made, it will be considered final in order to expedite the processing of your credit selection. Any student living in campus housing as of March 6 is eligible for the credit.

For students who do not have a suitable alternative living option, housing is still open and available. Dorms, food service, Campus Health, Student Rec Center, libraries and computer labs are open and will remain open to support you. If you are currently living on campus or will be moving back to campus this spring semester, you are not eligible for these credit options.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.
