Supporting Your UA Student
The SOS program, and everyone in Student Success & Retention is here to help students be successful and thrive at the University of Arizona. In February, many students are still trying to get settled in their spring classes, while processing how the fall semester went for them. Most students don’t have a perfect semester, whether it is their first semester or their seventh. Each semester brings new challenges and opportunities to engage in the UA.
If students struggled academically there are resources, primarily through Student Success & Retention Innovation, studentsuccess.arizona.edu , to help them this semester. If they struggled socially, there are clubs and activities they can still join. There are an infinite number of ways to be a Wildcat.
Students who are focused on the future have many options to look for internships, and think about their career paths. They can utilize Student Engagement & Career Development at career.arizona.edu .
The most important thing that students can do is make sure they have a positive mindset, and view challenges as positive and something to work through, rather than avoid. In Student Success & Retention Innovation we send regular communications to student focusing on a Growth Mindset, to help them begin to understand the benefits of changing their mindset. Students often experience some of their first real challenges when they are at the UA, and learning a different approach to roadblocks and setbacks will help them throughout life.
The SOS program and Student Success & Retention Innovation are here to help your student, and to help you support your student. Reach out at anytime.
