The Real Ways We Connect Students to Resources and Information
There are many ways students can receive information, updates and access to resources from the university. One way is through Student Success & Retention Innovation. Our weekly Wildcat Connections newsletter goes out to all new students through their entire first year on campus. Written by the SSRI Communications & Outreach (SOS) staff, it focuses on growth mindset, belonging and finding connections to campus. All new students are also placed into a module within our learning management system (D2L) managed by the same team with helpful resources.
Students can opt into helpful monthly text messages (by texting Arizona to 70542) with hints about campus resources and check-ins to see how they are doing. An actual staff member will message them to see how they are, doing and respond to their questions and concerns.
The university also sends weekly emails to all students called the “Bear Down Rundown.” The BDRD has important and exciting things happening on campus each week, the info they need in the moment allowing students to stay up to date on campus happenings.
Throughout the year students also receive regular information and updates from offices across campus regarding finances, holds, grades and more. It is important that students regularly check their email and their Student Center for university communications.
