Campus Recreation at the University of Arizona always strives to be on the cutting edge of health, wellness, fitness, and sports. Its most recent addition, located at the REC on E. Sixth Street, is an adaptive golf simulator. The simulator opened in October and was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a visit by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. This new contribution to UArizona is the result of an innovative collaboration between the Disability Resource Center, Adaptive Athletics, and Campus Recreation. An underutilized racquetball court on the second floor of the REC was repurposed and transformed into the golf simulator.

The UArizona Adaptive Golf team will use the simulator for its regular practice sessions. Beyond that, the golf simulator is available for reservations by students and Rec members for a small fee (a fraction of the cost of regular golf course use).  Your Wildcat can now play virtual holes and courses using the simulator’s camera system, artificial intelligence, and Amazon Alexa voice control. Students and Rec members can reserve sessions and rent golf equipment through Equipment Checkout located next to the locker rooms in the REC.

At Campus Recreation, our goal is to help students be active and engaged, find outlets to reduce stress, and enjoy success at the University of Arizona. The Golf Simulator is another opportunity for your student to enjoy engaging in health and fitness. Over the winter break, share the news about the simulator with your Wildcat and encourage them to start their New Year off at Campus Rec by adding a new activity to their fitness routine.
