Just-in-Time Opportunities for Students Looking for Internships

It’s that time of year again! Your student is probably doing one of four things: looking for activities and skills to boost their resume, looking for a summer internship or a full-time post-graduation job, or applying to graduate school. They may even be doing a combination of those things!

This is our favorite time of year – helping students connect their skills, interests and experiences with a program, or an experience or event to help them get to the next level, whatever it is for them! Here are some ideas:

THE RESUME BOOSTERS

Your Leadership Colors: (LIVE ONLINE)
This workshop utilizes the True Colors leadership styles exercise to teach participants about their individual leadership styles, including communication, time management, collaboration, and problem-solving. This is a great workshop for students looking to learn more about how they approach leadership and how they can articulate it in various settings.

Problem Solving Strategies: (LIVE ONLINE)

This workshop will walk leaders through the different types of problems they might encounter as well as strategies to respond to those problems. Workshop participants will practice identifying problems and working collaboratively to solve a dilemma.

GET CAREER CLARITY WHILE MEET PROFESSIONALS: INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEWING

If your student is interested in exploring careers to find a good fit or get information that might help them make an important career decision, we suggest information interviews. And we have just the program to take them through it step-by-step (five to be exact): 5 Steps to Build Your Network.

5 Steps to Build Your Network email course will take students through the steps of identifying professionals and preparing for and conducting an informational interview. They can jump in and move quickly or take their time. They’ll get the information and structure they need to feel confident moving forward.

JOB SEARCH SUPPORT

Job Search Jumpstart is a two-week email-based career coaching program built to help students check off four key action steps on their job search to-do list:

  • Write a resume
  • Create professional LinkedIn and Handshake profiles
  • Write a cover letter
  • Practice interviewing

We’ll provide personalized feedback on application materials based on their unique career goals. They’ll also have access to 1:1 appointments with career staff reserved specifically for Job Search Jumpstart participants, which includes access to help in evening hours and on weekends.

Next session starts April 5.
