“Starting any career is about building a network,” says Chris Kline, President and CEO of the Arizona Broadcasters Association.

“This program is meant to create that networking opportunity between Arizona local media brands and students at the University of Arizona.”

Fast Track: Broadcast Media Sales & Marketing is a new three-week program that kicks off March 24th and gives students a competitive edge when applying to jobs and internships in broadcast media sales and marketing.

Fast Track programs are industry-informed opportunities for students to gain specific in-demand skills while networking with employers who are hiring for internships and jobs.

This one is sponsored by the Arizona Broadcasters Association, and it responds to a shortage of talent in local media sales.

“There’s never been a greater demand for hungry leaders to start a career in local media sales. That’s why we’re partnering with the University of Arizona for this highly unique program,” says Trip Reeb, Vice President and Market Manager for Hubbard Radio Phoenix.

“There’s an incredible amount of opportunity to help build the future of local marketing and advertising, and these careers are right at the center of that effort.”

This program will give students a leg up with lessons from the media advertising industry. Students will get access to online, on-demand training covering the broadcast industry and the broadcast sales and marketing tactics used by industry professionals.

It also includes a behind-the-scenes tour of the KOLD television station, Tucson’s local CBS affiliate, and a panel and mixer with industry professionals from across Arizona.

At the end, students will receive a certificate of completion and a micro-credential to show they’re ready to hire. The Arizona Broadcasters Association is also funding twenty paid internships at Arizona television and radio stations. Recruiting for internships and jobs will take place on the last night of the program.

If a career in broadcast media, advertising, marketing or sales intrigue your student, encourage them to check out Fast Track: Broadcast Media Sales & Marketing to build their skill-set and network with professionals.
