Campus Rec Helps Students Get Their Groove Back
The arrival of the month of March at the University of Arizona comes with highs and lows. March brings the joy of Spring Break and the excitement of returning home or traveling; on the other hand, it also delivers the stress of midterm exams. At this halfway point in the semester, students may feel burned out and lacking motivation - luckily, Campus Recreation offers numerous programs, classes, and workshops to help them get their groove back in March!
Campus Recreation provides diverse opportunities for balanced and healthy lifestyles, fulfilling students’ needs through a variety of focus areas including Fitness and Wellness, Outdoor Rec, and Sports. Whether your student is stressed and needs to decompress, wants to develop healthier exercise or eating habits, or is simply looking to have some fun, Campus Rec has the answer!
During the month of March, Campus Rec offers yoga classes and workshops to help students relax and unwind. In partnership with the Global Center, Rec fitness instructors lead free yoga classes every Wednesday at the Park Avenue location. Plus, during Brain Health Week, the REC is hosting a free yoga class on March 17. There is also a Yoga Nidra workshop that leads participants through a meditative practice at NorthREC on March 23.
For students seeking to develop their fitness, the Campus Rec semester group fitness pass goes half-off in March, providing access to more than 80 fitness classes a week! Lady Wildcats can also participate in a Strong Women workshop (March 24 or 30) to learn about the benefits of resistance training and become more comfortable in the weight room. Cooking on Campus, a student-led cooking class held every other Tuesday in the Outdoor Rec Instructional Kitchen, teaches students how to cook a healthy meal that they get to eat, too!
Wildcats looking to have some fun and take their mind off classes should check out Outdoor Rec or Sports! Outdoor Rec is taking a day trip to Hutch’s Pool in the Catalinas for fresh mountain water swimming and moderate-level hiking on March 21 and a two-day camping and hiking trip to Aravaipa Canyon March 28-29. Sports-lovers as well as those brand-new to sports can enjoy playing Season D Intramural Sports in March, including tennis, flag football, beach volleyball and more!
