Campus Health recognizes the importance of your student’s health and its value to their success.  A student does not need health insurance to utilize services at Campus Health, however we strongly urge every student to maintain adequate health insurance to cover unexpected medical expenses.

What are my Student’s Health Care Options?

UArizona students who are uninsured or do not fall into one of listed healthcare options below, receive a student discounted rate. Students can also use their own health plan at Campus Health if we are part of their plan’s network. There are two other choices to consider while studying here; the top-tiered Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) with nationwide coverage underwritten by Aetna or our CampusCare bridge program for services exclusively at Campus Health. Here is a description of those options:

1.  Student Discounted Rate

Registered UA students fall under the Student Discounted Rate unless enrolled for the Arizona Board of Regent’s (ABOR) Student Health Insurance Plan, CampusCare, or a health plan we participate with. After a designated office visit fee at Campus Health, charges are then incurred for pharmacy, laboratory tests, x-rays, medical procedures and supplies. The fees are generally less expensive than those charged in the community.

2.  Arizona Board of Regents Student Health Insurance Plan

The Arizona Board of Regents offers a top-tiered Student Health Insurance Plan with a policy year of August 16th to August 15th with the following coverage periods:

Fall: August 16th through December 31st.

Spring: January 1st through August 15th (includes the summer whether taking classes or not).

Coverage is also available for students registered for summer who are not enrolled for spring coverage:
Summer: Pre-session, May 14th through August 15th

   1st and 2nd sessions, June 1st through August 15th

This health insurance plan coverage extends nationwide, providing convenience for students who may seek services beyond campus while in the US.  Under this plan, Campus Health is the Primary Care Provider and provides insurance liaisons available to assist students. A worldwide emergency benefit is also included.

Last Day to Enroll is September 7, 2021

Enrolling after an Open Enrollment period has closed

The Student Health Insurance can be added, canceled or changed only during the published open enrollment period. However, there are certain qualifying life events that will allow one to come onto the plan outside of an open enrollment, providing arrangements are made within 30 days of the qualifying event. Please contact the Campus Health Insurance office for further information at: chs-insurance@distribution.arizona.edu

3. CampusCare

CampusCare is an option that covers most expenses after a designated office visit fee for services provided exclusively at Campus Health.

CampusCare serves as an ideal bridge for students whose health plan may have a high deductible, limited benefits or no coverage for charges incurred at Campus Health. CampusCare helps keep your health care costs predictable each semester at an affordable cost.

Last Day to Enroll is September 7, 2021

4. Commercial Health Insurance Plans

Campus Health is a participating provider under most United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, BlueCross/BlueShield and Health Net plans. Call your plan member services department to determine if CHS is a participating provider.

Whichever category your student falls under or elects, please know that we are here for their healthcare needs.
