Scott McNamee lives in Silver Spring, MD where he met his wife Leanne on a blind date. Scott has worked as a medical device regulator for the Food and Drug Administration since 1994, currently serving as a Material Science Engineering expert in the Clinical and Scientific Policy Staff in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Additional professional interests include serving as convenor of an international working group on degradation in medical devices. Scott earned his B.S. in Materials Science Engineering at Johns Hopkins University and his PhD at Cornell University.
While Scott’s youthful adventures included canoeing in the Canadian Arctic and backpacking around New Zealand, he is now happiest spending time with his family camping or travelling. Scott’s son William is in the Honors College at UoA studying Economics. Scott’s daughter Charlotte is majoring in Biblical Studies at Gordon College in MA, and the youngest child, Marshall, is a high school junior finishing up his Eagle Scout project.
Scott’s favorite things about the University of Arizona is the sense of community on the campus and the beautiful surroundings of greater Tucson. He’ll take any opportunity to visit the Cookie Cabin on Mount Lemon.
