Maintaining a healthy and positive level of contact with your student while making the transition to college is a challenging but rewarding experience. Your roles may change but your student still needs you. Support your student by staying connected.
Care packages are always welcome. Send your student some goodies to celebrate birthdays, get them through exams or to let them know you miss them! Parent & Family Association proudly endorses these care package companies and receives a small percentage of each gift basket purchased by UA families.
Through the wonders of technology there has never been a better time to stay connected to your student.
Texting – It may surprise you when your phone calls go unanswered, but try texting short messages to your sons and daughters. Keep them up-to-date on what’s going on at home and let them know you miss them.
Phone – There are times you will actually want to talk to your student. Person-to-person conversations are valuable. Decide on a designated time each week that you’ll set aside to talk or arrange a time via text that works for both of you.
Social Media – Most likely your student has a facebook page. Facebook is a great way to stay connected. Friend them if you haven’t already. Also “like” the University of Arizona Parents & Family Association facebook page to stay up-to-date on helpful tips, and happenings on campus.
Reading the Arizona Daily Wildcat will help you keep informed with the latest happenings on campus as well as in Tucson.
