The beginning of the Fall semester is one of the most exciting times of the year. It holds the opportunity for students to develop new habits and get active! Campus Recreation at The University of Arizona has a tremendous variety of amenities, classes, programs, and trips that allow students to find their fit and become active, engaged, and successful on campus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that “students who are physically active tend to have better grades, school attendance and cognitive performance” (Health and Academic Achievement, 2014). Campus Recreation fosters the academic and social success of students by aiding concentration, improving quality of sleep and boosting physical health. Frequent exercise has been shown to aid in stress reduction and general mood, new brain cell development and memory, longevity, and many more physical health benefits. Additionally, the Rec maintains a friendly, safe, and welcoming atmosphere that helps students to have positive and engaging social experiences.
Encourage your student to participate at Campus Rec! With enrollment in just one on-campus class, your wildcat has an automatic student membership to the Rec Center, granting access to the comprehensive weight room and fitness center, Olympic-sized pool, and equipment and towel checkouts. In addition, students can purchase group fitness passes, dance / fine arts / martial arts activity classes, Outdoor Rec trips and experiences, swimming lessons, and much more!
To get the new school year started, Campus Rec hosts Meet Me at the Rec, an annual back-to-school Wildcat Welcome Week event on August 21, from 6 to 8 pm (rec.arizona.edu/meet-me-rec). With free food, activities, and more, your Wildcat can connect with other students, clubs, and organizations, both on and off campus.
