A native Tucsonan and UA Professor of Painting and Drawing, Alfred J. Quiroz, has a passion for helping students outside of the college of art to explore their inner artist. At a recent Faculty Fellows luncheon, Professor Quiroz shared that he had just commenced a mural project with students at his Faculty Fellow site a Residence Hall called La Cienega.

Student Spotlight on Adam Back

Adam Back is a freshman from Toledo, Ohio who started his time at UA as an Astronomy major and quickly changed to Pre-Education because he discovered that Physics wasn’t for him. The strength of the Astronomy department was one of the reasons that Adam decided to come to UA who he feels is a “world wide mecca” for Astronomy.

PFA Helps Friend 2 Friend

Campus Health Service thanks the Parents & Family Association for their $2,700 grant to fund the promotion to launch a new website for UA students called Friend 2 Friend (F2F). The site is intended for students who want to help their friends and aren’t sure how to best accomplish the task. F2F covers such questions as: “how do I know there’s a problem” to “what to do” to available resources. Topic areas include substances, mental health, relationships, food/body issues and safety. Each area is intended to give a brief description of potential problems and a section on how to talk to a friend about your concerns. The initial reaction from students previewing the site has been positive regarding the design, content and ease of use.
